Some Benefits of COFFEE in our body!

What is COFFEE?

COFFEE is a plant that can grow more than 30ft (9 meters) high. It is covered with green waxy leaves opposite each other in pairs. Grows in a continuous cycle, it’s not unusual to see flowers, green fruit and ripe fruit simultaneously on a single tree.

The trees grow best in rich soil, with mild temperatures, frequent rain and shaded sun.

Commercial coffee industry as of today has three important coffee species namely ARABICA, ROBUSTA and LIBERICA.

Arabica is descended from the original coffee trees discovered in Ethiopia. These trees produce a fine, mild, aromatic coffee and represent approximately 70% of the world's coffee production.

Robusta is grown in Central and Western Africa, parts of Southeast Asia, including Indonesia and Vietnam, and in Brazil. Production of Robusta is increasing, though it accounts for only about 30% of the world market.

Liberica is native to western and central Africa from Liberia to Uganda and Angola. It is also naturalized in the Seychelles, the Andaman & Nicobar IslandsFrench PolynesiaCentral America, the West IndiesVenezuelaColombia and Brazil

Liberica is a major crop in the Philippines. The town of Lipa (now Lipa City) became the biggest producer of arabica in the 1880s, but collapsed when the coffee rust disease arrived in the 1890s, killing almost all coffee arabica plants, which threatened the variety with extinction. Today, the provinces of Batangas and Cavite in the Philippines are producers of a variety of liberica known as 'Baraco'.
